Many people look at Chess and simply dismiss it as being a smart people game, boring or something in between. But when we look at Chess we see the true power of Chess. We see the reach, critical thinking and mental capacity increases that it creates. We see the power that it has to teach individuals strategizing, planning, positioning and other critical life skills. We see the power it has to build ones self esteem and bring people together over a friendly competitive game. We see the power that it has to increase concentration skills, imagination and patience. We see that it makes individuals aware that there are consequences for certain actions and that they must move/act accordingly. |
How to Participate:
CHESS TOURNAMENT CHALLENGE
The Chess Tournament Challenge will occur during the month of April. Individuals can sign up between April 1st and April 18th to participate in the tournament. The tournament will then run from April 20th - April 30th. A winner will be CROWNED on April 30th and they will receive a grand prize of $50 via Paypal.
In order to sign up for the Chess Tournament Challenge you have to complete the following steps.

- Learn how to play chess. (You can learn to play at a park, online or chess club/group via meetup.com)
- Create an account via http://www.chess.com and record your username
- Donate $5 and submit username to enter via Paypal. (This goes to assisting with fees associated with running the tournament.)
- Review Chess Tournament Bracket via BEAM Website
- Play Chess Games in Tournament
