As we continue to talk to people and review the financial state of the world around us, we have become more aware of the impending nature of events and habits.

As a result of our analysis, BEAM is teaming up with several other organizations to promote a year of practicing the financial skill of saving. We intend to do this by launching and having individuals participate in a year long savings challenge. This savings challenge is called, "New Year, New Me - Saving Challenge." 

The goal of this challenge is simply to get people into the habit of saving money throughout the year, while getting to network with other like-minded individuals and having fun at the same time. 

NEW YEAR, NEW ME - SAVINGS CHALLENGE

Guidelines

The guidelines for the New Year, New Me Savings Challenge are simply.
  1. Sign up for a Black Owned Bank and/or Black Owned Credit Union account in your neighborhood. If there aren't any in your neighborhood, then you can sign up for an online black-owned bank account with One United Bank. 
  2. Select GOING/INTERESTED on the EVENT PAGE for the Challenge. (This would enable you to join a savings team to share other financial tips and help each other stay on track.)
  3. Setup an automatic transfer to the new bank account with a desired amount of your choosing. A sample based on your pay-period (Weekly, Bi-Weekly, Semi-Monthly & Monthly) are presented to the right. 
  4. Download Excel Spreadsheet to help keep track of your savings (Optional: Weekly, Bi-Weekly, Semi-Monthly, Monthly)
  5. Have fun.
