Create Black History Challenge

Today is February 1st, 2015 and it's the beginning of Black History Month within the United States of America. During this month, there will be a wonderful display of a selected array of Black Excellence as it is rarely shown in the Mainstream Media during other parts of the year.
We are going to begin to learn about the great achievements of some of the greatest leaders, pioneers, “average citizens” and everyone else in between. In essence people will get a dose of a small version of a skewed reality. There is going to be a lot of learning and little to no application until next year. This year we would like to do something different. Instead of just learning Black History, we would you to create Black History. |
We would like to have the most black owned bank accounts opened on record for this month. We would like to embody the messages that Martin Luther King Jr. had. We would like to embody the message that Malcolm X had. We would like to embody the message that Marcus Garvey had. We would like to not just keep the dream alive but begin to move closer to the dream. Dreaming without action is a fantasy.
We Challenge You to Create Black History; not just in the month of February, but all this year.
We challenge you to
THINK LIKE GARVEY
FIGHT LIKE MALCOLM
DREAM LIKE MARTIN
And Most Importantly BANK LIKE ALL THREE.
We challenge you to go out today and open a Black Owned Bank account. Discrimination for Housing, Auto Loans, Business Loans, etc. all begins where you bank. The design of your community begins where you bank. The practice of group and local economics begins where you bank. Corporations are still around that benefited from slavery because of where you bank.
So decide today that you will Create Black History and empower Black people by changing where you bank. Move your money from your current bank to a Black Owned Bank. Move your money from your current bank to a Black Owned Credit Union. If you don’t have either one in your neighborhood then move your money to your local credit union at a minimum to practice local economics. Change towards growth doesn’t begin until you decide to take the first step.
